Since becoming a raw foodist, I’ve learned to read the ingredient labels of the food I eat very carefully. Still, there’s only limited information you can get from these food labels, and I’ve always been a bit uneasy about FDA regulations. One of the main problems I’ve seen is the regulation which states that any ingredient that constitutes less that 0.5% of a product can be rounded down to 0. So if a product contains 0.5% hydrogenated soybean oil, the product can still state that it is Trans Fat Free. For a full list of Ingredient and Nutrition label loopholes, check this page out.
